Kallergiana is situated at an altitude of 96 meters and is 42 km from the city of Chania. It belongs to the municipality of Kissamos and has about 50 permanent residents, who are engaged in agricultural activities and animal husbandry.
Kallergiana is built panoramically on a hillside. Due to its location, as it is near to Kissamos and it is built close to the highway, has further ability of growth, although it has already rudimentary tourist infrastructure.
Kallergiana is just a half kilometer from Kastelli and it is located in the fertile valley of Kissamos. Neighboring villages are Saint Anthony, Vardiana, Daphni, Kampos and Marediana.
At a short distance from Kallergiana, you can visit the beach at Falasarna and the lagoon of Balos, two of the most beautiful and spectacular beaches, not only of Chania and Crete, but of the whole of Greece.
Kastelli or Kissamos - only 7 - 8 minutes away - is a small town of about 2,000 inhabitants, with an attractive little harbour, lots of shops, cafeteria and tavernas mostly along the seafront, a long history and a lively atmosphere. It is a busy place, offering everything tourists may need, although it does not seem very impressive at first.
The harbour of Kissamos is outside the town, linking Crete to the Peloponnese, Kythera, Gythio and Kalamata. There are also daily boat trips to Gramvoussa and Balos Beach.
Kissamos or Kastelli is ideal for people who want to explore West Crete and the fantastic white sandy beaches on the west coast.
